Cambios en precios relativos y bienestar en Argentina. Una estimación en base a características distributivas

Abstract

Este trabajo analiza el efecto sobre el bienestar ocasionado por los cambios en precios relativos ocurridos en Argentina entre diciembre de 2016 y junio de 2019. A tal fin, se realiza una estimación actual de las características distributivas de los bienes utilizando la Encuesta Nacional de Gasto de los Hogares 2017-2018 en base a la metodología de Navajas (2004). Los resultados muestran una caída del bienestar social explicada principalmente por el fuerte incremento de precios relativos en los rubros electricidad y gas, comunicaciones, transporte y algunos alimentos. Las heterogeneidades en los patrones de consumo y en los cambios de precios relativos llevan a que la magnitud del efecto difiera entre regiones del país.
