Integrazione europea, trasferimenti di capitale, sistema monetario internazionale : la critica di Federico Caffè

Abstract

Federico Caffè ricopre dal 1959 il ruolo di professore di Politica economica presso l’Università di Roma. I temi internazionali sono alla sua attenzione fin dal 1947, con un riferimento costante a J.M. Keynes. Al suo pensiero lo avvicina l’attenzione per i trasferimenti internazionali di capitale e per la necessità di un loro controllo, come i dubbi e le riserve sul funzionamento del meccanismo di mercato e sui rischi che una politica di apertura incontrollata possa determina-re. Centrale nel lavoro di Caffè la critica costruttiva al ruolo del FMI ed al cammino dello SME verso l’unione monetaria : un sistema monetario che lega monete e paesi diversi è virtuoso se si rafforza l’apparato produttivo dei paesi più deboli. Richiamo oggi più che mai attuale.
