Abstract

Researching a wide range of domains by quantitative methods has a long history. Relying mainly on figures, the quantitative approach uses a variety of methods and techniques that support the researcher to conduct an objective investigation. Marillon (2007, p. 38) considers that “the figures allow a detachment from subjectivism and, undoubtedly, confer objectivity.†Quantitative research methods provide descriptions of processes and events, comparing them based on collected data, identifying factors (favorable and unfavorable) and explaining the links between dependent and independent variables.
