A Review of Kant’s A Priori Judgments and Their Epistemological and Moral Significance

Abstract

This paper critically reviews the function and significance of a priori synthetic judgments in Kantian philosophy, emphasizing their foundational role in human cognition, moral consciousness, and scientific inquiry. It explores Kant’s argument that human understanding actively constructs experience rather than passively receiving external reality. Through an analysis of Kant’s transcendental self and philosophical architectonics, this study examines how reason unifies epistemology, ethics, and aesthetics. The paper further discusses the contemporary relevance of Kant’s ideas, particularly in metaphysics, scientific methodology, and ethical challenges such as artificial intelligence and sustainability. By synthesizing recent scholarly discussions, this review highlights the enduring philosophical significance of a priori synthetic judgments in shaping our understanding of knowledge, morality, and reality.
