Gelişmekte Olan Ülkelerde Ekonomik Büyüme ve Cari İşlemler Dengesi Üzerine Bir Panel Veri Analizi

Abstract

Literatürde, gelişen piyasa ekonomilerinin cari açık vermeksizin tatmin edici büyüme değerlerine ulaşamadıklarına dair iddialar yer almaktadır. Bu neticenin en büyük nedenlerinden birisi olarak ise, gelişmekte olan ülkelerin üretimi arttırabilmek için gereken faktörlere sahip olmaması gösterilmektedir. Dolayısıyla bu çalışmada cari işlemler dengesi ve ekonomik büyüme arasındaki bağlantının ortaya konulması hedeflenmektedir. Bu amaçla çalışmada söz konusu ilişkinin teorik altyapısı incelenmekte ve bu ilişki ampirik olarak analiz edilmektedir. Bu doğrultuda önce ilgili literatür irdelenmiş, sonra panel eş-bütünleşme yaklaşımından yararlanılarak, ekonomik büyüme ve cari işlemler dengesi arasındaki bağlantının niteliği görgül olarak ölçülmüştür. Çalışmada kullanılan veriler Dünya Bankası’nın istatistiksel bilgi ortamından temin edilmiştir. Bu çalışmada 22 gelişmekte olan ülkenin 1980-2016 dönem aralığını içeren panel veri seti meydana getirilmiş, Westerlund’un yapısal kırılmaları da göz önünde bulunduran panel eş-bütünleşme testi tatbik edilmiş ve nihayetinde neticeler çözümlenmiştir. Sürecin sonunda ekonomik büyüme ve cari işlemler dengesi arasında eş-bütünleşme bağlantısının bulunduğu neticesine ulaşılmıştır. Gelişmekte olan ülkelerde ekonomik büyüme cari açığı artırmaktadır.
