Abstract
This article aims to present a bibliographical review of the conceptual and epistemological aspects of the application of agriculture based on the Green Revolution and the set of environmental, social, cultural and educational consequences that this practice has generated in the course of history. In parallel, the second objective is to explain agroecology as an alternative for sustainable and sustainable development in the economic context. The ultimate goal is to foster environmental awareness in students linked to the context of education in the field of environmental sciences. The analysis follows a methodology linked to the qualitative paradigm, defined as review research, which is characterized in its temporal dimension as co-transversal at the level of educational and ecological thinking from agriculture. It also seeks to contribute significantly to the social work of sensitization and awareness, starting from global realities toward focal points. The main benefits of agroecology can be synthesized in greater diversification of species or genetics, plant, and animals; recycling of nutrients and organic matter, optimization of their availability and balance of their flows; optimal edaphic conditions for crop growth; minimization of soil and water losses, maintaining coverage, controlling erosion and managing microclimates; minimization of losses due to insects, pathogens and weeds; development of synergies from plant-animal interactions; pest control; weed management and eradication; poly-culture; adapted varieties; crop protection; low environmental and health impacts; sustainability; low research and capital costs; low risks; positive energy balance; technological development in harmony with the environment; greater farmer participation and valorization of traditional knowledge. In conclusion, this analytical relationship generates benefits, for the substantial improvement of awareness about the natural space from the understanding of the current agricultural reality, through the history and epistemology inherent in the Green Revolution and agroecology.
