Abstract
In the recent years, there is an increasing research focusing on the relation between social capital and economic development in rural areas. The main hypothesis is that communities with higher levels of social capital have a better level of economic development. Social capital has to be understood as emanating from formal and informal social networks. The objective of this paper is to analyze, in the case of agritourism, the incidence of social capital. Using an eclectic approach of social capital (the functional and the cultural approach) and considering also, the Actor Network Theory we analyzed the centrality's level of the different actors involved on agritourism social networks and also the existence and relevance of networks externalities. This approach allows us to propose more accurately specific political measures according to different phases of the agritourism life cycle.
