Abstract

The purpose at the present article is to help to the reflection on the phenomenon related with the new functional character and the valuations that nowadays are made about the rural space from urban centre. We try to argue that the rural tourism is related with the news working procedures and the variations of the socialprofessional structure and with the variables for which the visitor select the rural space of Extremadura as tourist destination. On the other hand and considering that the rural areas tourism keeps on being more diverse and interrelated than the typologies of ordinary tourism, we also reflect and analyse the case of the countryman tourism at Extremadura. So we want to report that the rural areas tourism, in its diverse meanings, is a source of resources that is essential to investigate further than the only description and the mere quantification.
