Abstract

In this research production animals valuation models have been developed for milk cows. The work enables the solution of valuation problems in the animals insurance sector. The model uses the lactation curve, Wood's model (1967), in a quantitative way (milk production) as well in a qualitative way (production of fat and protein), week by week, in a period of four years of milk production, with the inclusion of parameters of seasonal variability due to birth date and farm size factor. The model is validated with market values, in the available ages, showing its general validity. The evolution of the variable value vs the variable age has a good fit with a parabolic function. it is easy to parametrize this function to facilitate the valuation process.
