Abstract

Los jóvenes inician su actividad en cebaderos y ciclos cerrados con un volumen de actividad inferior a la media......We analyse the amount of employed work in swine farms, the origin of labour, information on personal characteristics of farmers, and the general education and training of people who is occupied in that farms. We have made a questionnaire to owners of 202 swine farms of Valencia Community. In the sample there are farms all around this region, all kind of size herd, production herd and economic organisation of production; that permits us study this effects on the characteristics. The conclusion is that we are in front of family farm. The participation of farm owners in farm work grow when the number of animals sold grow too. The study level is low and the mean of their age is high, but is upper when the farm belongs to the higher and lower groups of sales volume. Young farmers have more basic education and start their activity in feeder’s and breeding-feeder’s farms from medium group of sales.
