Abstract

Remote learning during the coronavirus pandemic was a challenge not only for students and teachers, but also for their families and local communities. The crisis situation revealed many shortcomings in the organization of the education system, its underfunding and its failure to adapt to contemporary challenges. The article, based on information from the Observation Journal kept during the period of remote learning by the deputy principal of a rural primary school, and diarists participating in the "Everyday Life in the Time of Coronavirus" competition, presents the way in which a rural school operates during the crisis, asking whether its location in the local, rural community had an impact on how it dealt with the unusual situation.
