Abstract

The main aim of the article is to identify trends in the process of changes in income inequality between the countries covered by OECD statistics and to determine their scale and causes. The study was carried out based on the databases of the OECD. One has stated that changes in income inequality within OECD countries in recent decades were multidirectional, dominated however, an increase in income inequalities. Reduction could be observed in some countries usually with a high level of income inequality, while in developed countries generally growth trends took place. There are many reasons explaining income inequality. Most often it points to the processes of globalization, the role of the state in the economy, the conditions for the functioning of labor markets, sociodemographic factors. It can be assumed that further directions of researches in this area will contribute to better understanding of the impact of social and institutional causes. / Synopsis.
