Abstract

An increasing importance of grain quality in the world cereal markets, especially in the European Union, is observed. An appropriate application of pesticides enables to obtain a high yield of good quality. The aim of the study was an estimation of plant protection costs and of the profitability of pests control. A field experiment was conducted in central part of Poland in 2004- 2009. The costs of plant protection in this period were stable. A close relation of costs and yields was stated. However, the costs of plant protection did not influence the grain prices. This resulted in unstable profits for producers. / Synopsis.
