Abstract

The aim of the study was to analyze the changes in the Dutch floriculture in the years 2000-2011, which help in defining the future of Polish floriculture. The changes in land use in Dutch floriculture sector, as well as in particular branches have been studied. The total acreage, number of farms, the average cultivation area and size structure of this area in each branch of the floriculture and land use structure have been analyzed, as well. The analyzes showed a significant changes as a response to changing macroeconomic circumstances. First of all, for the first time the decrease in the area under glass was visible, mainly with cut flower production. However, the acreage with nursery production continually was increasing. At the same time very deep drop in number of farms was observed, and the dynamic increase of an average size of plantation in 1 farm. / Synopisis.
