Domestic Violence. Interviews With Mothers – The Victims Of The Violence In Biała Podlaska

The aim of the research was to present the way of functioning of a woman in the role of a mother, a wife and at the same time the victim of the violence in the family. The following research was based on the survey in the form of the interview. 15 women were surveyed in 2009. The violence in the family influences negatively on the way a woman performs the role of a mother, wife or a worker. Women who suffered from the domestic violence are taught to resign from their own needs and their hierarchy of values. The most frequently used forms of the domestic violence are physical violence, beating and pushing. Women who suffered from their husbands’ violence did not make their dreams and wishes come true, and what is more, they gave up their professional plans. The attempts of leaving a husband were not successful because of the lack of financial means. It is highly necessary to counteract this phenomenon on the level of politics, economy, institutions, society and family. The law instruments are unsatisfactory, inefficient and the means of helping the victims are still not sufficient.
