Abstract

The aim of the paper was to find the relation between the total, average and marginal productivity of human labour factor and the level of education of a farm manager. The study was based on micro-data from Polish FADN. The Cobb-Douglas function was used in the research. The impact of the level of education of the farm manager on the variation of labour productivity was estimated by investigating the relation between the total production (PLN) of the farm and aggregated production factors: labour input in AWU, agricultural land area (ALR), and fixed assets (PLN). The results of research show that the total, average and marginal productivity were higher in the sample of farms run by managers with higher education. This result indicates that the level of education of the farm manager has the significant impact on the efficiency of human labour management and shows the need for the farmers formal qualification improvement.
