Abstract

The area covered by protected areas in Poland amounts to 33.1%, The region with the highest percentage of areas covered by them is in the świętokrzyskie province – 62%. There are 72 municipalities in the świętokrzyskie province among which in 49 protected areas cover more than the half of the Swietokrzyskie area. These areas are usually landscape parks and protected landscape areas. The basic of development of protected areas should be based on the production of high quality food and food processing. This paper presents features and social attitudes of inhabitants of protected areas of Swietokrzyskie province. The work continue discusses theoretical issues of instruments and institutions with reference to polish protected areas. Following the topic, the features and social attitudes in protected areas has been analyzed. The last chapter presents the issues features and social attitudes on the local development in opinions of inhabitants of the selected municipality in the Swietokrzyskie province. The work ends with a brief conclusion.
