Farm succession plan

Abstract

Succession issues are widely described in relation to family businesses, in which the majority of successors are people from the immediate family circle. Succession is equally important in the case of farms. The continuity of transferring these entities to subsequent members of the farmer's family affects the success of the new owner, who should be properly prepared for this role. Such preparation can be ensured by developing and implementing a farm succession plan. The article analyzes succession plans prepared for the needs of family entities. In addition, solutions used in relation to succession planning in farms outside Poland were traced. Based on the collected information, a scheme of a farm succession plan was created. Succession planning should be popularized among farmers in Poland. Such a plan stimulates considerations regarding the future of the farm. In Polish agriculture, succession planning is still a little or even completely unknown issue, and research in this field has not been conducted in Poland so far.
