Innovations et diversite des exploitations agricoles

Abstract

Innovation is not an absolute guarantee of progress. It has to be adapted to the context of the technical management itinerary and above all to that of the farm. Each farm is a unique system of techno-economic relationships. Innovation alters the way this system operates and only entails progress when beneficial changes are greater than maleficent changes. An innovation can only be assessed by the farmer who operates the system, who has to bear its constraints and through which he attempts to achieve his life goals. This implies that innovations must be tested within a wide range of "insertion" and not only of performance criteria, and that a specific innovation way not be of equal interest to all farms.
