Abstract

Societies and food economics - Agri-food economics is a newly born discipline arising from various changes in the western food systems and from the impact of the industrial revolution. A certain number of French economists, authors of articles published in "Économie rurale ", have contributed to the creation of new concepts and to the implementation of new tools and theories likely to allow a better analysis and a better understanding of the rapid changes having occurred these last few years in the field of agriculture and food. The aim of this article is to remind the important contribution of the French rural economy to this new field of reflection and research.
