Abstract

The evolution of the rural area poses many questions and determines sometimes contradictory answers. More optimistic analyses referring to the rebirth or to the reconquest are opposed to the pessimistic vision who speaks of desertification and depopulation. In fact, the uncreasing complexity of the rural world questions the use of indicators still largely used in an exclusive manner. This poses in addition the problem of approach methodologies of rural milieus. This article provides on the one hand tracks to establish new indicators of rurality and proposes a process of analysis more suitable to include the uncreasing complexity of rural areas.
