Abstract

In this paper, we aim to analyse the short term effects of the recent change (1992) in the european regulation of the oilseeds market, on the allocation of land between cereals and sun-flower. We first describe the context of the reform (conflicts in the GATT), and then show that, if the reform has no sensible effect on the whole supply, it leads low-yield producers to increase the plantation of sun-flower in place of cereals and conversely for high-yield farms.
