Les paysans de l'ouest Cameroun face au crédit agricole institutionnel

Abstract

The problems of credit distribution of agricultural credit by institutional organisations in West Cameroon have been analysed through the FONADER experience in the Mifi area. This analysis brings to the fore two kinds of contraints. The first ones are caused by internal structures of the organisation, essentially because of insufficient information about its own credit activity, the complexity of procedures, and the amount of the required guarantees. The consequencies are the results of external problems, mainly due to suspicion of the population towards the banking establishment, the low profitability rate of agricultural businesses, and the very high ratio of repayment failures. The experience of the "adherent credit" has been analysed too. It has significantly improved the distribution system, but has to deal with the insufficience of funds which are allocated to it.
