Abstract

The restructuring of agriculture in Central Europe has left in its wake new needs for professional people, both in beginner training and continuing education. Such engineers and technicians must be able to help in the formation of new farmers, guide them, organise producers, and contribute to the processing and distribution of products. For the face of this need, the existing university system possesses a great potential in both physical capacity and academic staff. The main problems are the reconversion necessary to obtain adapted cursus for the new objectives ; openings on the professional market ; low financial means and the absence of a society project concerning the future of the higher education system.
