Efficacité et stratégie des groupements de producteurs : l'exemple des groupements de producteurs de pois de conserve

Abstract

The farming and food industries have to group themselves to face increasingly keen competition. The farmers, as producers of raw materials have organised themselves as Producers' Groups (Groupements de Producteurs) in the canning industry. The aim of this research was to analyse the reasons for the great disparity in efficiency in the groups observed (average income/hectare). The groups may have two extreme attitudes — that of a screen betwen the farmers and their canner, or that of a catalyst of their energy. The study shows that the efficiency of the groups is greatest when the groups act as a catalyst of energy, making their members more motivated and encouraging greater active participation.
