Abstract

An observation panel for the production of piglets, set up in 1970, is made up of 64 farmers who raise sows (from 10 to 100). This technico-economic survey took 6 years. It shows that whether the production pays its way or not depends essentially on the output of the reproducers and that since 1973 the improvement in output and the increases in selling prices have not been enough to cover increased expenses.
