Abstract

The basic data of this study are the figures of supply published by the EEC statistical office. A system of equivalent units (equivalents in wheat) enables us to estimate on the basis of characteristics suchas the total value of the Agricultural Product and to compare animal production and crop production. Taking into account the bias inherent in this method and in spite of the imprecision of statistical sources, one can see that for the period considered the production of the EEC has shown a bigger increase than the requirements of the EEC'S internal market. The self sufficiency of this market has increased from 91 % to 96 %. The French production has gone up by 50 %; as far as the other countries are concerned, this increase can be ascribed to an increase in feeding stuffs imports.
