Les services de vulgarisation, les firmes d'amont et d'aval et les organismes de commercialisation

Abstract

Directed towards serving the needs of large farms, the British Agricultural Development and Advisory Service regroups most technical services of the Ministry of Agriculture within an organization with three increasingly specialized geographical levels (the upper echelon being a network of laboratories and experiment centres). Since its creation in 1972, ADAS deliberately chose to cooperate with agribusiness firms which, like farmers or, indeed, any other public or private person or body, may benefit from free advisory services. This emphasis on industry cooperation as well as clear distinction between its tasks and those of commodity Marketing boards are considered by ADAS as the major conditions of its efficiency.
