Abstract

Just three years after becoming a member of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), Romania had access to financial resources of the Fund, the last loan being approved in 2009. This study aims at highlighting the economic situation of Romania in the period before the agreement with the IMF, the conditionality imposed for the loan and the economic consequences of the agreement on national policies.
