Abstract

In this article we approach the global innovation degree of micro and small companies in the region of Carmópolis, in Sergipe. There were two field surveys carried out by the Local Innovation Agent (ALI) project, promoted by the Serviço Brasileiro de Apoio às Micro e Pequenas Empresas (Sebrae) in partnership with the Conselho Nacional de Desenvolvimento Científico e Tecnológico (CNPQ) and aims to implement actions aimed at improving the company’s productivity. The first survey was carried out on 20 companies in the economic sector of commerce and services in the region and their global innovation degree was calculated using the Innovation Radar tool. With the result of this research, 201 recommendations were made to increase the productivity, 63.2% of them were implemented during the period of one year. Subsequently, a second survey was carried out to implement the new global innovation degree of these companies. The results show that both economic sectors increased their degree of innovation by implementing the recommendations and that companies in the service sector managed to achieve a higher degree of global innovation when compared to companies in the trade industry.
