Trade Of Turkey In The One Belt One Road Initiative: Gravity Model Analysis

Abstract

Sustainability of foreign trade, which is one of the main determinants of growth and development, is important for all economies. For this purpose, with the One Belt One Road (OBOR) initiative, which was initiated under the leadership of China, countries are interconnected by transportation, energy, telecommunication networks and fiber systems such as land, rail and sea. In this context, the aim of the study is by using gravity model the determinants of the foreign trade volume with the countries of the generation with Turkey is located on the generation economic in initiative. For this purpose, the annual data of 15 countries covering the period 1990-2019 were analyzed with the Poisson Pseudo Maximum Likelihood (PPML) method. As a result of the study, the complexity inherent in the initiative, the risks and difficulties it may encounter, obscure the assessment.
