The Comparison of The Impacts of 2001 and 2008 Crises on Turkıih Banking Sector

Abstract

In our country; fallaciously formed economic policies, the fact that the financial system lacked a strong infrastrucute and due to November 2000 and February 2001 crises which occurred because of the politically ambiguous environment, ended up with the collapse of the financial system and economy. Aftermath the crises, lessons have been learned and “banking sector”, situated as the engine of the economy, has been re-structred. Turkey has also been negatively effected from the 2008 Crisis, which has started in the USA and impacted whole world, but its finance sector overcame the crisis with minimum damage. In this study, 2001 and 2008 crises and their impacts have been compared in terms of macroeconomic data and banking sector and the research has been resulted with the survey study.
