TInflation and Banking Sector Loans in Turkey: An Analysis of the 2002-2008 Period

Abstract

After putting into practice implicit inflation targeting regime from 2002, Turkey adopted an explicit inflation targeting regime starting in January 2006. This implementation, of course, caused certain effects on the economy and the banking sector. This paper aims to investigate these effects. Within this context, the main pur- pose of this paper is to analyze the transformation of the credit of the banking sector in the inflation targeting environment in Turkey for the period 2002-2008.
