Abstract

Cash management is crucial for national and international firms. Cash requirements have been increasing because of the glo- bal financial crisis. In this article, the cash conversion cycles of Turk- ish and US SMEs in the food industry are analysed during 2002- 2007. The results indicate that the volatility of the cash conversion cycle for Turkish SMEs is higher than US counterparts. This is due to poor economic conditions, lack of cash management policy, inter- nal and industrial factors.
