Abstract
The paper studies the processes associated with the transition of society to the digital age, as well as the factors influencing the global economy development in modern conditions. The Global Innovation Index (GII) is chosen as a tool for assessing the innovative activity of various countries, a rating of countries with the highest indicators is provided, andRussia’s place in terms of GII level, contribution to innovation and innovation performance over the last few years is determined. During the analysis of innovative activity indicators of the Russian Federation for 2023, the strengths and weaknesses influencing the overall result of the innovative activities assessing of the country are identified. Changing the situation and ensuring accelerated socio-economic development is possible only with the active participation and government support not only in case of large enterprises, but also small and medium-sized innovative entrepreneurship. Such an approach will allow to transform the economic model from export-raw materials model to an innovative one based on the active implementation of the results of scientific and technological progress in the production sphere. In modern conditions of political and economic instability, the necessity of creating own models of innovative entrepreneurship development is revealed as well as providing of a comfortable environment for their successful implementation.
