Vocational training and employment outcomes of domestic violence survivors: Evidence from Chihuahua City

Abstract

This study analyzes the employment outcomes of 116 domestic violence survivors in Chihuahua City who attended vocational training workshops between July 2019 and October 2020. Based on the analysis of a linear probability model, I find that women who attended vocational training courses were about 1.1 times more likely to be employed after. Additional results provide evidence of a decrease in the probability of informal employment among participants, and also documents positive shifts in attitudes related to confidence. The findings also reveal differences in employment outcomes between age groups and women who were interviewed before and during the COVID-19 pandemic.
