Abstract

This article analyzes the effects of tobacco taxes on public health and social equity in Mexico. The study highlights how such fiscal measures contribute to reducing health disparities among low-income populations, promoting tobacco cessation, and strengthening sustainable public health systems. The evidence supports tobacco taxation as a tool to foster socioeconomic equity and healthier lifestyles in developing countries.
