Globalisierung der Automobilindustrie: neue Standorte auf dem Vormarsch, traditionelle Anbieter unter Druck?

Abstract

Der Beitrag analysiert die internationalen Produktionsverlagerungen und Investitionsverflechtungen in der Automobilindustrie, um die These zu überprüfen, dass es selbst bei der Herstellung relativ wissensund technologieintensiver Güter zu einem nachdrängenden Wettbewerb aus Ländern mit vergleichsweise niedrigem Pro-Kopf-Einkommen gekommen ist. Die Ergebnisse sprechen – insgesamt gesehen – eher dagegen, dass die Automobilproduktion an den traditionellen Standorten bereits in der Vergangenheit durch das Vordringen neuer Anbieter stark beeinträchtigt worden ist. Der "Wettbewerb von unten" dürfte in Zukunft aber intensiver werden.
