Abstract
Die institutionelle und organisatorische Gestaltung der Wettbewerbsordnung hat in den letzten Jahren sowohl auf euro-päischer als auch österreichischer Ebene neue Strukturen hervorgebracht bzw. zur Diskussion gestellt. Dabei standen Ausgestaltung und Zusammenarbeit nationaler Wettbewerbsbehörden ebenso im Mittelpunkt der Diskussionen als auch die prozessuale Abwicklung von Fällen. Vor diesem Hintergrund stellt sich die allgemeine Frage, nach welchen ökonomischen Kriterien eine Wettbewerbsbehörde institutionell in das polit-ökonomische System ein- und anzupassen ist, um den Anforderungen der wettbewerbspolitischen Zielsetzungen zu entsprechen.Dazu werden Ansatzpunkte und Zusammenhänge sowohl aus dem Bereich der Institutionenökonomik als auch aus der Public-Choice Theorie herangezogen, um anhand der daraus abgeleiteten Kriterien Schlüsse für die Anpassung der Wett-bewerbsbehörden zu erarbeiten.
