Arbeitsplatzschaffung und Beschäftigungsgrößenklassen. Eine Untersuchung methodischer Alternativen

Abstract

Diese Arbeit untersucht vier alternative Methoden, um Beschäftigungsveränderungen den einzelnen Beschäftigungsgrößenklassen zuzuordnen. Für Jahresdaten sollte demnach als Referenzgröße die durchschnittliche Unternehmensgröße bzw. ein dynamisches Allokationsverfahren verwendet werden. Aufgrund des Regression Bias ergibt sich bei Verwendung von Vorjahres- bzw. Anfangsunternehmensgrößen eine Überschätzung der Arbeitsplatzschaffung durch kleine Unternehmen. Die Verwendung der Endgröße bringt eine Überschätzung der Arbeitsplatzschaffung durch große Unternehmen mit sich. Für Quartalsdaten ist die dynamische Zuteilung zu Größenklassen vorteilhaft. Diese Methode der Zuordnung, welche das Bureau für Labour Statistics (BLS) in den USA als offizielle Methode einsetzt, erlaubt als einzige auch Gründungen und Schließungen den Unternehmensgrößenklassen zuzuordnen.
