Abstract

Malgré l'accumulation de menaces sur l'économie internationale depuis deux ans, la croissance mondiale a résisté en 2016, ralentissant à 2,9 %, après des rythmes un peu supérieurs à 3 % entre 2012 et 2015 (tableau 1). Cet épisode s'apparente davantage à un « trou d'air » qu'à un retournement du cycle mondial. La baisse de la croissance dans les pays industriels (de 2,1 % en 2015 à 1,6 % en 2016) a été contrebalancée par la légère accélération dans les pays en développement (de 3,7 à 3,9 %) grâce à l'atténuation de la récession en Russie et à l'accélération de la croissance en Afrique et au Moyen-Orient. Dans les autres zones, la récession est restée confinée à quelques grandes économies d'Amérique latine, l'Argentine et le Brésil, et si le changement de régime de croissance de l'économie chinoise se confirme, il se traduira par un ralentissement modéré de l'activité. L'Asie hors Chine ainsi que les pays d'Europe de l'Est ont continué à croître à un rythme soutenu.
