Abstract

L’objet de cet article est d’offrir un bilan théorique et empirique de la littérature de la demande induite. La littérature théorique analyse la réaction du médecin aux incitations financières autour des deux approches de référence que sont la maximisation du profit et le revenu cible. Elle permet d’organiser et d’expliquer la littérature empirique. Trois perspectives empiriques sont alors étudiées : l’effet densité, l’effet honoraire et l’estimation de l’effet revenu. Enfin, le rôle de l’asymétrie d’information dans l’induction et l’effet d’induction sur l’état de santé du patient, sont discutés.
