Abstract

Working paper on the impact of multinational enterprises on technological change and employment creation, comprising a case study of a foreign subsidiary and a local firm in India - discusses theoretical issues, size of enterprise, research and development, innovations, backward and forward linkages, redundancy, sales, capital, etc.; finds that there is no apparent difference in the adaptive responsiveness of both firms; outlines the implications of inward-looking regulations and industrial policies.
