Abstract

. El objetivo principal de este trabajo es establecer desde un punto de vista, tanto teórico como empírico, la relación existente entre la desigualdad en la distribución de la renta y la movilidad social. Los índices de movilidad social de intercambio y de desigualdad de la distribución de la renta se han calculado utilizando el Panel de Hogares de la Unión Europea (ECHP). La robustez de estas medidas se ha tratado de establecer calculando familias de índices con distintos parámetros normativos, lo que permiten hacer un análisis de sensibilidad de los resultados a las diferentes hipótesis. Una vez calculados los índices, mediante la estimación de un modelo de efectos aleatorios, se ha comprobado que no existe una relación significativa entre estas dos variables, incluso una vez corregidos los efectos individuales de los distintos países.
