L'évolution des réserves disponibles en hydrocarbures : historique et tendances

Abstract

Les hydrocarbures, pétrole et gaz naturel, tiennent une place importante dans le bilan énergétique mondial. Ils représentent en 2011 près de 58 % de la consommation totale d'énergie primaire, une proportion qui a peu évolué sur les 20 dernières années, alors que parallèlement la consommation d'énergie des habitants de la planète, tirée principalement sur la dernière décennie par les pays émergents, augmentait de plus de 50 %. Les deux dernières décennies ont été régulièrement ponctuées par les questionnements sur la raréfaction des ressources fossiles et l'annonce récurrente d'un très prochain plafonnement de la production pétrolière. En 2013, qu'en est-il des réserves de pétrole et de gaz naturel ? Quelles évolutions ont marqué les deux dernières décennies ? Qu'attendre dans un futur proche ? ...
