Abstract

Estudiamos la capacidad predictiva del rendimiento académico de las distintas componentes del sistema de selección a las universidades para los alumnos de la Escuela de Ingeniería de la Universidad de Chile. Nuestros resultados indican que las notas de educación media y las pruebas específicas de física y matemáticas tienen una capacidad predictiva importante y estable, y que el efecto de las pruebas específicas es casi el doble del efecto de las notas. La prueba de aptitud matemática no tiene poder predictivo en forma individual, lo que potencialmente se puede explicar por el rango restringido de puntajes entre quienes ingresan a la Facultad. El poder predictivo del rendimiento en la Escuela de Ingeniería de las actuales componentes del sistema de selección sobrepasa el 40 % para la mayoría de las medidas de rendimiento utilizadas, luego de corregir por restricción de rango.
