Wer nutzt welche Qualität? Zusammenhänge zwischen sozioökonomischer Herkunft und Kita-Qualität

Abstract

Die öffentlich finanzierte Kindertagesbetreuung hat in Deutschland in letzter Zeit sowohl politisch und medial als auch wissenschaftlich erhöhte Aufmerksamkeit erfahren. Die Schaffung von Betreuungsplätzen stand dabei im Vordergrund. Eher vernachlässigt wurde die Verbesserung der Qualität frühkindlicher Bildung und Betreuung, obwohl Studien ihr eine hohe Bedeutung hinsichtlich der Förderung kindlicher Entwicklung beimessen. Der vorliegende Beitrag trägt Ergebnisse von Studien zusammen, die untersuchen, ob Kinder unterschiedlicher sozioökonomischer Herkunft Einrichtungen besuchen, die qualitativ divergieren und Kindern zu Beginn ihrer Bildungsverläufe systematisch verschiedene Lernkontexte bieten. Diese für Deutschland noch wenig beleuchtete Forschungsfrage ergänzt einen etablierten Forschungsstrang zur sozialen Selektion in Kindertageseinrichtungen, wonach potentiell benachteiligte Familien Kindertageseinrichtungen (im Folgenden ‚Kitas‘) seltener bzw. ab einem höheren Alter nutzen.
