Abstract

What is the typical governance system of a Dominican convent? What are its distinctive mechanisms and their working mode? How does this specific governance system influence decision making? We analyzed the literature on the order of preachers and conducted a series of interviews with friars from a convent (7) and close friends of the Dominican family (4). The results have potentially far reaching implications beyond the governance religious orders.
