Abstract

Der Umfang der landwirtschaftli-chen Fläche, die mit den Anteilskäufen auf neue Eigentümer übergeht, beträgt im Durchschnitt 21 % der statistisch erfassten Flächenkäufe.//////////////////////////Abstract Supra-regionally active shareholders in East-German agricultural enterprises: Status and devel-opment This study assesses the number and the cultivated area of agricultural enterprises with the major-ity of capital shares owned by supra-regionally active investors, as well as the number of acquisi-tions by this type of investor between 2007 and 2014. Agricultural enterprises in eight East-German administrative districts with certain legal forms (Cooperative, Stock Corporation, Limited Liability Company) are analyzed with respect to their current shareholders and changes in share ownership since 2007. Companies are categorized according to certain characteristics of their shareholders, such as local residence, number of shareholders, family relationships, economic activities in different sectors, and capital majority. Results show that the importance of supra-regionally active investors differs greatly between the federal states. On the whole, supra-regional investors coming from agriculture-related sectors have higher importance than non-agricultural investors. Relatively constant numbers of acquisitions by such investors per year have been observed since 2007. Together with the capital shares, farmland owned by the enterprises has been transferred in substantial quantities compared to statistically-recorded land purchases
