Abstract

Involvement of young persons in science and research area in the Czech Republic diminishes and numbers of students in natural sciences are decreasing steadily. Without proper intervention this trend would soon empty the pool of human resources that are necessary for sustaining and further enhancing our technological competitiveness. Charles University in Prague in order to reverse this unfavourable trend implements various innovative educational methods and approaches. The aim is to raise and sustain interest of pupils and students in natural sciences and bring them to university studies in this field. The paper presents some specific examples of interventions and concrete methods supporting the innovative approaches in education, interactivity and usage of new technologies as well as their expected impact.
